In the Kutubu Education Project, ADRA PNG, in partnership with Santos Foundation (SF), aims to deliver adult literacy education services and ward development training to,
men,
women,
people living with disabilities,
and youths aged between 15 to 30 years.
It is a 2-year program that began in July 2024 and will end in June 2026. The impact that adult literacy is having on individuals as well as the host communities in Kutubu LLG is overwhelming. Hope is restored through an adult literacy program for those whose hopes have vanished. Youths who once dropped out of school and turned to alcohol and drugs are now back in class. This program is giving them a second chance. Already, 5 learners are back in the formal education system — two in primary school doing grade 8 and three in secondary school. A further 5 have taken up pastoral studies at a local Bible school.
October 2025: In partnership with Santos Foundation, ADRA PNG has been conducting an Adult Literacy program in the Kutubu Local Level Government area of the Southern Highlands Province of Papua New Guinea since 2024. Recently, 120 men, women, youths, and people with disabilities, at least one with hearing and speaking impairment, graduated after completing the ADRA English and Tokpisin curricula.
Education is truly transforming and changing lives one at a time in Kutubu.
